Two unique alleys, Pirates Alley and Pere Antoine Alley, run alongside Anthony's Garden at the back of the St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter where artists set up paintings and hang them on the wrought iron fence. Vibrant colors bring to life the street scene, reflecting the old-world atmosphere unique to New Orleans, with balconies adorned year-round with flags, flowers, and greenery. The wet street mirrors the colorful facades and sky, giving an energy as well as dreamlike quality to this painting.
