Lake Of The Clouds From Big Carp River Trail 1 by Dale Kauzlaric -- I went to Lake Of The Clouds located in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan, hoping the fall colors would be nearing peak. The park is located in Ontonagon County in the UP. The Big Carp River Trail goes west from the main overlook. This trail goes along the top of the cliffs and overlooks the valley below. The trail eventually goes all the way to Lake Superior and is 9.6 miles long. I decided to take the trail to see the views below and back at the lake. Here is a look back at the lake from the trail with a view of the lake, surrounding mountains and the incoming clouds. I only saw one other person on the trail.
